Stevenage Chiropractor Kenneth Cairns DC
My chiropractor changed my life at 14 years of age
My chiropractor changed my life at 14 years of age when I first attended his clinic in Canada. I have been trying to change the way people think about their health since I have been a Doctor of Chiropractic.
My Chiropractor Suggested I think about a Career in Chiropractic
My Chiropractor suggested I think about a career in chiropractic on one of my regular treatment visits when I was at University. He suggested that I interview other chiropractors to find out what they thought about what they did; possibly the best piece of advise anybody has ever given me. I went to three other chiropractic clinics and found other doctors there with the same passion and commitment about their patient’s health as my doctor had for mine. I loved it. I wanted it. I am it.
I graduated from the University of Waterloo in Canada in 1990 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Kinesiology (exercise physiology). I then attended Palmer Chiropractic College in Davenport, Iowa (USA), where I got my Doctor of Chiropractic in June 1994. I practiced for one year under Dr. Stites at the Palmer Clinic in Rock Island, Illinois. A wonderful patient teacher who not only taught the nuts and bolts of the profession but also gave his student externs the confidence to trust their own judgement and make decisions.
Maple Chiropractic Clinic
Maple Chiropractic Clinic is dedicated to the best patient care available. We have very highly trained doctors and staff, we have the latest digital x-ray technology and computerized patient notes and appointment systems. We have computerized nerve scans and utilize the latest cold wave laser technology to upregulate damaged nerve function and shorten healing time. But what we pride ourselves in is understanding patients. We want to care for the whole patient, not just their neck or their back or whatever their primary complaint is. We strive to give people as much information about their particular condition as possible as well as what chiropractic treatment may be able to accomplish for them. We promise to listen when patients are trying to tell us something. We promise to respect each and every person that enters the clinic whether they are a patient, staff, the postman or the person who delivers our fresh flowers every week. We get an amazing rush when patients tell us how much better they feel and how we have changed their lives.
My wife Jane is the practice manager. She does most of this from home, but she is at the clinic often and sometimes brings our three children with her. Wallace was born on 14/12/2002 and completely changed our lives. Frazer came along on 17/06/2004 and added to the joy. Aisla Jane completed our family on 13/03/2008. The kids are the centre of our universe. They are so much fun we wonder what we ever filled our time with before they came along. All three of our children had their spines checked immediately on being born, all of them needed a slight correction and have been getting adjusted regularly ever since.
My wife and I met in a clinic that I used to work in, her sister was one of my patients and eventually set us up on a blind date. We hit it off straight away and have been together ever since. We married on 01/09/2001 in Canada and decided to start a family straight away (I am not as young as I look).
Outside of the Clinic
Outside of the clinic I aim to spend as much time with my wife and my three wonderful children as possible. We love to be outdoors and go for walks and picnics. My wife and I both love football and are committed Arsenal fanatics. We look forward to getting involved in all of the kids activities in the future, especially football..
I have been attending chiropractic clinics for over 29 years now. It makes me feel fantastic when I get a good adjustment and I definitely can feel the energy dissipating when I get subluxated. My wife, my kids, my mum, dad, brother all go to a chiropractor regularly. It took me a long time to convince them of the benefits but they are all definitely converts now. I believe that conventional medicine is wonderful for saving your life in an emergency but they don’t really know what proper health is, and therefore are not great at telling their patients how to achieve proper health. I think this is where chiropractic’s true role falls, we need to tell everybody that health is not just the absence of any noticeable symptoms but the state of total physical, mental and spiritual well being.
